Sacred harmonies from Corsica by the Sarocchi ensemble

Canti Sacri di Corsica is a group of four cantors who interpret religious harmonies and counterpoint from the mountainous region of north-eastern Corsica. Some of these cantors have known each other since childhood, and all share a common passion for traditional song. Whilst these sacred songs use Latin texts drawn from the well-known Roman liturgy, they have nevertheless descended to us today directly through oral tradition. Changes in the liturgy over the years, and the depopulation of the inland regions of the Island, meant that these musical works so particular to Corsica were very nearly forgotten forever. Now they are being revived by Canti Sacri di Corsica as lasting evidence of a universal and timeless spirituality.
